Xylitol Powder Sweetener

Xylitol is odorless and dissolves quickly, and is naturally found in many fruits and vegetables. It has a sweet taste similar to sucrose. Frequent consumption of foods high in sugar and starch between meals can promote tooth decay. The sugar alcohols in xylitol do not promote tooth decay. Xylitol has 33% fewer calories than the same amount of sugar.

Xylitol is a white crystalline powder that is different from the fine white sugar made from birch bark. Xylitol is used as a natural sugar substitute derived from the fibers of various fruits and vegetables. Unlike many other sweeteners, xylitol has no aftertaste. Occasionally, one may notice a "cooling effect" on the tongue when tasting xylitol. This is due to your saliva interacting with the xylitol on your tongue. In addition to being a great sweetener, xylitol has many other benefits. Numerous studies have shown that xylitol actually helps prevent tooth decay. Xylitol effectively prevents tooth decay bacteria from producing tooth-eroding acids, while sugar provides food for the bacteria to produce more of these damaging acids. For this reason, xylitol is recommended and often used by dental offices around the world. Xylitol also helps stabilize insulin and hormone levels. Therefore, it is recommended for diabetics and hypoglycemic patients to ingest.

We do not recommend that you feed xylitol to dogs because they do not process xylitol in the same way as humans. In addition, xylitol is a potential drug for the treatment of osteoporosis, as it has helped to increase bone density in animal studies.

When used in chewing gum, xylitol has been shown to help prevent ear infections.

Xylitol has also been found to increase the activity of white blood cells involved in fighting many bacteria, so it may help strengthen the body against infections. It is even recommended for pregnant women

Healtang offers xylitol at cost. We are trying to undercut all the competition to advertise this amazing product and hopefully increase the health of all involved. Buy our basic powdered xylitol, or try one of our convenient syrups made with it. The sweet taste of sugar without the sugar! Xylitol is an all-natural sweetener derived from fruits, berries, lettuce, hardwoods and other plants.

Xylitol comes from a group of sweeteners commonly used in foods, called sugar alcohols or polyols. In fact, these are neither sugars nor alcohols, but natural compounds formed from sugar. Xylitol is a natural sweetener that looks and tastes like sugar and has many unique benefits: Delicious - Other sugar alcohols such as sorbitol, lactitol, mannitol, maltitol or erythritol are only a fraction of the sweetness of sugar. Xylitol, however, is as sweet as sugar and does not require any other synthetic sweetener to provide excellent sweetness. Contests may also use these sugar alcohols, but may still contain synthetic sweeteners to increase sweetness. Xylitol does not require any synthetic sweeteners to provide 100% natural flavor. Low Calorie - Xylitol has about 40% fewer calories than sugar and tastes great! This is good for anyone who is dieting, watching calories, or just trying to become healthier. Although the product contains carbohydrates, many people do not count these carbohydrates because they have a minimal impact on blood sugar levels and have a low calorie content per gram.

In fact, the net effective carbohydrate content of these products is low. Suitable for diabetics - Xylitol also has a low glycemic index value of only 7, which has a minimal impact on blood sugar levels and does not require insulin for metabolism. It is effective not only for people with diabetes or hypoglycemia, but also for anyone who is sensitive to sugar. Good dental health - Xylitol is a good sugar substitute for everyone because it is good for dental health.

Xylitol helps reduce tooth decay, plaque and cavities. Studies have shown that xylitol actually has a cavity-protective effect; in other words, it reduces new tooth decay by inhibiting plaque and suppressing the bacteria that cause it. By switching to xylitol products, you can actually help damaged teeth grow stronger. No problems with digestion - You may have heard of other sugar alcohols or seen labels on products that warn of laxative effects. Most other sugar alcohols, such as sorbitol, mannitol, maltitol, isomaltitol or lactitol, can cause digestive problems. This is not the case with xylitol! Xylitol is the preferred sugar alcohol because it is as sweet as sugar and is a natural choice with no other side effects.

Other great advantages - While xylitol has been used as a sweetener in the U.S. since the 1960s, recent studies confirm that it is more than just a tasty, low-calorie sugar substitute. Xylitol destroys bacteria that can cause ear infections and ulcers, and may even help strengthen bones.

Quick Facts about Xylitol

Xylitol is a synthetic sweetener: Xylitol, also known as "birch sugar", occurs naturally in a variety of fruits and vegetables. However, since these sources contain very small amounts, store-bought xylitol is a synthetic sweetener. It is produced from hemicellulose, the second most abundant polysaccharide in nature, which is found in the cell walls of all plants. The bark of birch trees and corn cobs is used as a raw material for xylitol.

xylitol from birch and corn: The two most common sources of hemicellulose include birch and corn. Hemicellulose has a polymer called xylan, which is broken down into a sugar called xylose. The xylose is then converted into xylitol. Xylitol from birch and corn is chemically identical, i.e. the chemical structure is identical. There is no difference in taste or smell. They are also metabolized in the body by the same pathways. The only difference is that some brands offer slightly finer crystals than others, but they both contain 99.5% xylitol. Most of the xylitol products you find in stores are made from non-GMO corn from China and are often cheaper than American-made birch (one brand comes from Finland).

Xylitol taste: Xylitol is as sweet as cane sugar and is a 1:1 sugar substitute. As with all polyols, when consumed in powder form, xylitol produces a cooling sensation in the mouth as it dissolves, which is known as the refreshing effect. It has the most pronounced cooling effect of all polyols. To minimize this effect, you may find xylitol mixed with other sweeteners (inulin, erythritol) as shown in the "xylitol mixture" above.

Xylitol is a tooth-friendly sweetener: Xylitol is a non-cariogenic sweetener because it does not promote tooth decay. It also has a cavity-inhibiting effect because it stops harmful oral bacteria and inhibits their growth and activity. The FDA allows xylitol sweeteners to be labeled as "does not promote," "may reduce the risk of tooth decay," and "helps not promote" tooth decay.
